Congratulations to Holly Richardson, who was chosen at last night’s special election to become the new Utah House of Representatives member from District 57 (see full story in the Deseret News).
As a political blogger and GOP District 57 Legislative District Chair, Holly has been a staple in the Utah political world for quite some time. She is well acquainted with and cares deeply about conservative political issues and the legislative process, and she will hit the ground running when her appointment is finalized by the governor.
In addition to electing new representation, Republican delegates unanimously passed a resolution asking the legislature to immediately change the boundaries of District 57 to reflect the boundary that has been “understood and implemented over the last five election cycles.”
The last month has been a jarring ride for Frank and for the residents and delegates of District 57. There are probably still a few bumps left in the road before all of District 57’s issues are smoothed out. I admire the boldness and conviction expressed by those District 57 residents who spoke up during recent weeks to defend their right to elected representation. Many thanks are due to to Craig Frank for his dedicated service to District 57 and to the Republican Party.
